Poem on response to the Destruction of Baha'i Sacred site in Baghdag

The worldwide Baha’i community has learned that the house of Baha’u'llah, the Founder of the Baha’i Faith, in Baghdad, Iraq – a profoundly sacred site known as the Most Great House – has been destroyed. The precise circumstances surrounding the demolition are not yet clear.
Bani Dugal, the Principal Representative of the Baha’i International Community to the United Nations said: “This deplorable act has robbed people throughout the world of a priceless piece of their spiritual heritage.”

The Blue Bird by Ruben Dario

The Blue Bird, This is the English translation of the Poem written by Ruben Dario call "El Pajaro Azul" (The Blue Bird), I been working on the translation of this beautiful story, always trying to get the most accurate version of the story.

here it is, please enjoy and leave your comments.

The Blue Bird.

Translated by Jose Hidalgo.
Paris,  amusing and terrible stage. Among the busy “Café Plombier”, good and purposeful boys – painters, sculptors, poets – yes, everyone looks for the old green laurel! None more beloved, that the poor Garcin, almost always sad, good drinker of absinth, dreamer that never gets drunk, and, an unexceptionable bohemian, Fine Improviser.

In the impaired room of our happy meetings, the chalk of the walls kept, among the sketches and lines of future clays, verses, whole stanzas written in toss and gross letters of our beloved Blue Bird.

The Blue bird was the poor Garzin. Do you know why he was called that? We baptized him with that name.

That was not because our vagary. That excellent boy had a sad gaze. When we asked him why when all of us laughed as fools, he with a glowering glance at the roof, would answer with a bittersweet smile…

-Friends: I want you to know that I have a blue bird on my brain, therefore….

***

It’d happen that he liked to go to the Countryside at the beginning of spring. The air of the forest did well to his lungs, as the poet said.

From his excursions he used to bring branches of violets and thick booklet of madrigal, written at the sound of the leaves and under the wide and cloudless sky. The violets were for Nini, his Neighbor, a nice and pretty lady that had such blue eyes.

The verses were for us. We’d read them and applaud them. We all had praise for Garcin. He was a genius that must shine.  Time would come. Oh, The blue bird would flight so High.

The Nature of things, the nature of love, the algorithm of life, pleasure and the incertitude of all ignorant things..  All these aspects of life are nothing more but the hidden reality of life, a life in which faith, devotion, certitude, knowledge and overall understanding, can reach that higher point in which everyone dreams.

Another aspect to think about is that in this hidden reality nothing influences it more than society, family, friends, love ones, even trees around us, the clouds in the sky and the sun.  What I’m trying to say is that everything, within the realm of mortality is part of Nature, even change itself. The influence of everything either emotional or physical is no more than the influence of this one over each and every one of us.  But, as the proverb says “Vitam regit fortuna, non sapienta" (Fortune, not wisdom, rules lives.).  In each of us there is fortune, we are fortunate to be alive (are we really?), we are fortunate of our wealth (are we really?), fortunate of our family and friends (really?).

These are some thoughts.. Imagine the power of the word ‘Influence’ and weakness of the word ‘truth’.  I was discussing religion, in general, with a fanatic Christian, and nature of all the prophets or messengers of God (according to the Baha'i faith), how all of them said the same thing, that they are all the way and the truth... then he(Christian fanatic) came with this weird concept that pretty much I would have criticized and exterminated in my past atheist days, which is:
"the truth is that Jesus died for my sins"....
here's the thing, I didn't ask him to do it, I’m happy with my sins, I enjoy committing them, that's why I keep doing them, what a waste of life heh!!??  and then he told me that the fact is that
"Jesus raised on the third day" ...
Wow.. "Really!?" I said... I thought both facts can be proven.. so I went to Google and I made sure I was right, so this is what I found.

"A fact (derived from the Latin Factum) is something that has really occurred or is actually the case. The usual test for a statement of fact is verifiability, that is whether it can be shown to correspond to experience. Standard reference works are often used to check facts. Scientific facts are verified by repeatable experiments."

So, this guy was telling me that, in fact... Jesus rose from the dead, I was in shock and is not just that, but that in other words is being proven that Jesus did.. after so much nonsense I went back to my seat and thought... what can cause a human being to blindly believe anything that is put in front of him without even asking?... this is more than just faith.

I love a quote from Wolfgang Brezinka in which he calls or sees society as
"An unrealistic overstimation of the power of reason", He states that "the belief that man can understand social processes in their entirety and that he has the ability to 'act autonomously' and practice 'self-determination by reason' without any kind of commitment to authority is 'an illusion' which amounts to the presumptuous claim of 'wanting to be like God both in knowledge and in the freedom to act."

In other words.. Society and in special those who claim to hold the truth or as they call it now, "Fact", are not just trying to impose and limit the understanding and freedom of others, but they are just deciding not in the name of their creator or so call "God" but they are acting as the one "God".  This unrealistic people that overestimate the power of Reason claim to hold the truth by attaching themselves to their idle fancies...If the more we know about this Complex world/society the harder it is for us to understand it, then what do we truly understand? Doesn’t it looks like is almost an illusion, painted with the vanity of Human, selfish and Irrational Thoughts.

At the end it is common sense that everything is ruled by its own nature, that the perception and understanding that we have of this are not more than personal opinions that shape and influence society.

I will end with the next quote of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe:
"All truly wise thoughts have been thoughts already thousands of times; but to make them truly ours, we must think them over again honestly, till they take root in our personal experience."
